Nettled. Haunches. Gambol. Trudgening. Hunker (down).

Words for a three-year-old? Or a seven-year-old?

Trudgening doesn’t even show up in my 71-year-old spell checker!

The children’s book LEAP! by JonArno Lawson with art by Josée Bisaillon has a great concept. The pictures are so bold, children will really be attracted to it because they can find something different with each reading.

“Reading.” By someone old enough to handle words like “Trudgening,” and “Gambol.”

OR, someone who has read the book through, and then tells the story in his or her own words.

As the story is re-read, some of the more complicated words can be snuck in, one at-a-time.

And enjoyed!
